The past two days have been nothing short of dramatic. This past Monday, we celebrated the five-year anniversary of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X with a tournament to decide the top exclusive title of this hardware cycle. You were given eight PS5 games and eight Xbox Series X exclusives to face off against each other, culminating in a championship round where the top game from each platform would battle it out. We've witnessed some nail-biting finishes in the initial matchups, particularly yesterday’s razor-thin votes. Now, it's moment to decide the best PS5 and Xbox Series X games ahead of the championship on Thursday.

PlayStation 5 Contenders

For PlayStation 5, we have the Kratos-killer, Astro Bot. Perhaps it's expected considering that it took home the top prize at last year’s Game Awards, but its victory over God of War Ragnarök seems like a major shock. However, to reach the championship, it'll have to go through the MVP of the PlayStation 5 era: the acclaimed developer. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 enjoyed an easy journey to the final four, leaping past Ghost of Yōtei and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (another title from the same studio!) to land in the semi-finals. Can Spidey topple a home-grown Sony mascot, or is he destined to become a chibi cameo in the upcoming Astro Bot title?

Xbox Series X Contenders

The Xbox Series X side has been even juicier. Emerging victorious from a diverse lineup of contenders is Forza Horizon 5. It's a significant win for the racing adventure title already, demonstrating that a niche category title deserves to be on the same pedestal as classic platformers and cinematic action-adventure games. Its final obstacle en route to the finals is a big one, though. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has proven to be a fan favorite, defeating critical darlings like Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush. Can it beat a much bigger game from an well-known franchise that's closely tied to the Xbox brand? If anyone can pull that off, it's likely Indiana Jones.
